Proverbs 6:1-19
4 sections today: the first warning against giving your neighbor a security deposit, as this creates a debt that could become a trap for you. The second considers the ant, who is self-disciplined (v.7), productive, and responsible, in contrast to the lazy sluggard. Laziness starts small, but grows and produces poverty (v.10-11).
The third person seems to describe a carnie. Well, ok, just a con man in general. It talks about disaster suddenly coming upon them.
The fourth is a list of 7 things the Lord hates. Knowing God is not just knowing what he loves, but also what he hates and growing to hate those things yourself.
Romans 5:1-11
As a result of this justification by faith, we have obtained peace with God. There is no longer any hostility between God and us because of our sin. We rejoice in the hope of seeing and sharing in the glory of God, but also in our sufferings, because suffering also produces this hope, sometimes even more clearly.
v.5 - It is the Holy Spirit who "has poured God's love into our hearts".
Paul emphasizes again that this reconciliation has taken place through the death of Christ, and goes on to argue that if we were reconciled to God through Christ when we were enemies of God, how much more will we be saved by Christ now that we are at peace with Him?
Romans 5:8 - But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
